ABOUT

About Maria

MEET THE PSYCHOLOGIST

I'm a trained child psychologist and counselor who specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Positive Psychology. I like to take the most useful tools from different therapeutic approaches and think of every client as a unique individual with unique needs. Many of my clients are expats, but I always welcome clients from any country and any background. I am open-minded and empathetic, with a sprinkle of neurodivergent on top. English is my main language, but I also speak Russian fluently.

SPECIALIZATION

Whether you're dealing with stress, motivation, depression, or anxiety, I'm here for you! Having moved around a lot myself, I understand the challenges of migration and cultural adaptation firsthand. I also work with generational trauma, offering a gentle approach that always puts your well-being first. I believe you know yourself better than anyone, so I respect your integrity and work to support your unique needs. My top priority is making sure you feel comfortable and free from judgment—whatever you’re facing, I’m here to help.

When working with teens, my main goal is to support them through this turbulent time and give them a sense of autonomy, resilient self-esteem, and a strong foundation of emotional intelligence, so they can navigate challenges with confidence, make informed decisions, and build healthy relationships.

When working with children, I include their parents in the process because a large portion of the child's behavior and development is dependent on their parent(s). Working through things together fosters open communication, strengthens the parent-child bond, and ensures that both parties have the tools and support they need to address challenges, promoting lasting positive change in the child's development and well-being.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

WHY PSYCHOLOGY?

Originally, I went into psychology because of my older sister who has Down Syndrome and my unhealthy obsession with serial killers. Two odd factors that probably shouldn't be mentioned in one sentence, but both of them made me question things like adaptation, brain development, and lack of social support for most minority groups. After entering the field, I knew I was in the right place and I found my passion. I was drawn to Clinical and Child Psychology and ways in which we can support everyone's mental and physical well-being. I truly believe that everyone can thrive when given the right tools, so my main goal is to provide those tools and teach you how to use them.
